Summary

Applications from photographers wishing to display images on BirminghamNet are welcomed, simply complete the application form and submit 5 examples of your work. Approved submissions are displayed free of charge for amateur photographers.

A total of 18 Guest Photographer galleries will be available. A minimum of 6 and A maximum of 18 photographs per gallery must be submitted to be included. Your gallery should have a subject themed on Birmingham places, events, people, architecture etc . All types of photography will be considered, but the level of photography needs to be reasonably good, and of interest to a wide audience. There are no costs for submitting or displaying photographs on BirminghamNet Gallery. This is a free service for amateur photographers View gallery

Subject Matter

Any types of photography can be submitted, but all are subject to approval before display. No images with explicit pornographic content will be accepted. Submissions are welcome from both amateur and professional photographers. Contact us for further information.

Copyright Issues

Do not submit any images unless you are the copyright holder, this includes. Copyright of images displayed on BirminghamNet remains with the copyright holder, however our copyright notice will automatically be applied to the image by our server. We reserve the right to give permission for use of your photographs to be downloaded by third parties at our discretion and we may in some cases accept a fee for use. Watermarks on photographs will not be accepted unless it does not degrade the overall image. You will retain the original the high resolution image and you will be contacted for use of that image and acceptance of any fees for use of that image.

Photo Display Information

When applying for a new gallery you must write a brief summary of the content to be submitted including your name, copyright notice, website address, email address. These will be displayed above the main image, enabling visitors to see who produced the photograph, where more can be seen (eg if you have a website) and how to contact the photographer (if an email address is included). When submitting images, you must add captions and a description of the photo to the EXIF data embedded in the image file.

File Types and Sizes

Only submit jpg images, please resize your original to 800x600 with a maximum file size of 500K we will display a minimum of 6 images and up to a maximum of 18

Submitting image files

If you have access to image editing software such as PhotoImpact, Paint Shop Pro, or Photoshop, you can resize the image yourself, and submit these by Email. The image should be sized between 800 x 600 pixels. File resolution should be set to 72dpi. File names for the images should be prefixed with lowercase letters only that will relate to yourself and subject (use your initials) Example: for a photo submitted by J.D. Smith use filename as jds_myphoto.jpg

Software for JPEG Comments.

We require that you add comments to the EXIF data of each image. We use FastStoneImage Viewer which is a fast, stable, user-friendly image browser, converter and editor. This can be download free at www.fastone.org. Other EXIF editors may be used such as Scott's JPEG Commenter from www,sb-software.com It is important that the first line of the comment is less than 30 characters long. Avoid using special characters such as ? < ' $ ~ # @ etc. The second line MUST be Blank The comment text must be continuous without using any paragraph breaks. The 48 bell Bournville Carillon was installed by George Cadbury in 1906 as is seen as a landmark surmounting the buildings of Bournville Junior School adjacent to Linden Road. The sound of the Carillon is magical in the open air as music of a variety of styles and composers is played by the skilful Carillonneur. Recitals are played Friday 5:00pm and Saturday 12 noon and 3:00pm Admission is free.
